Andy and Ann have returned from uni and are ready to start their adult lives in Grim Grotto. I just built a beach front apartment for them to move into. It isn't as plush as my other apartment complex, but is acceptable for this challenge.--- --- --- --- Tour of the Apartments --- --- --- ---
Here is a picture of the apartment grounds with the walls down. Three apartments and a community room.
The first two apartments from left to right.
Apartment #1: $3,242. The yellow outline shows the area the for rent. The front door of the house is a regular door that goes to a public bathroom. Having one or two extra bathrooms on an apartment lot helps a lot during parties or as the family expands. The landlord will clean the public bathrooms. This lot has a large backyard that should come in handy for a growing family. (Actual cost $4,496, I forgot to add magic steps to this apartment. I added them after Andy moved in. Then used boolprop to recalculate the rent. The previous amount was for the first floor only.)
2nd floor: This apartment has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and a balcony.
Apartment #2: $2,715 per week. No yard.
The first floor has a large bathroom and one bedroom.
The second floor has 4 bedrooms and one bath.
Apartment #3: $4,493 per week.
The first floor has 2 bedrooms, a bath, and a large back yard. The apartment door is to the side. The side door saves steps to the community area of the apartment lot. The front door goes to another public bathroom.
The second floor has 2 bedrooms and a bath.
The community room is between apt. 2 and apt. 3. It has a pool table, dart board, and sauna.
Here is a shot of the playground on the beach. The lot has a water problem, but only minor. It doesn't seem to change the functional part of items on the beach. This didn't show up when I built the apartment complex. (spoiler: The water problem got worse each time I loaded the lot. More in future blogs.)
Andy moves into apartment #1. I tried to use the family fund cheat to get rid of his 20k handout. It didn't work. I used the money to re-decorate the floors and walls. I didn't use any of it to buy furniture, paintings, or anything else. I shrunk his funds down to $1.

I planned to remove the 20k handout prior to moving the sim in. Good thing I didn't, because he wouldn't have been able to rent an apartment.
I send Andy to fish and ask the other renters to join him.
I realized I forgot to put steps going up to the second level. I added magic steps and had the game recalculate the correct rent. (boolprop... shift+click on the apartment door.)

(boolprop... shift+click on the apartment door.)TIP/CHEAT: You can rent a furnished apartment with the boolprop cheat. Before you rent the apartment, shift+click on the door, then pick "rent furnished." Poof its decorated and furnished, that is if you pre-decorated it or if its a maxis apartment. If your playing a challenge, this is a pretty big cheat. You don't have to pay for the furniture, its a gift. You will have large bi-weekly bills until the furniture depreciates. It might make things a little more complicated at the start in this challenge. With that in mind, I might have to give that a try.
Thurs 3:43 am. $2,555 cash on hand. Bills $72

Sat. 11:26 am. The pop up in the upper right hand corner announces that its Saturday and the landlord is hosting a weekend apartment gathering. She orders pizza. I have a BBQ grill, so I'm not sure why she ordered a pizza instead of using the grill. I picked up the pizza and put it in my sims backpack. No one from the apartment, except the playable lot, goes to the party anyway.

During the day, he digs for treasure since the pond is frozen or makes snapdragons on the flower workbench. At night, he uses the telescope in hopes of an abduction.
The match maker brings him a genie lamp when I wasn't looking.
He digs up a treasure chest worth 5k.

One of the hobby interests allows sims to search for constellations and planets (both of these give money if the sim finds one) and watch for UFO's. I guess "watch for UFO's" increase the chance the sim will get abducted by aliens. It doesn't seem as quick as "summons aliens" (top perk for knowledge sim aspiration). He has been using this option every since he purchased the telescope.
Sun 9:15 pm. $11,832.
Sun 9:15 pm. $11,832.He got abducted by aliens (natural 'enhanced' abduction - no cheats). I was to the point I didn't think it would happen this round. When I saw the blue light, I nearly squealed from delight. I clapped and giggled (and was rather glad no one was in the room with me when it happened.)
Landlord pop up reminder that the rent is due.
The sim has had a productive week making snapdragons and getting abducted by aliens. I hate that I have to wait until next round to see the little alien toddlers.
---- ---- ----
PPJ Challenge: If you move in a sim, you get a 3,500 pt deduction. I'm trying to avoid moving anyone in until a jar card requires it. With this restriction, male sims can only add genetic sims to the game through alien abduction or spores of life.

Wow! A treasure chest, genie lamp and abduction, what an eventful update! BTW, I use your jar challenge, and I just picked to have my fortune/knowledge family have a bad visit with the headmaster. That one is going to be the hardest yet, I think! It's gonna kill me! LOL
I still have yet to get a genie lamp!! I have to keep skipping the sections that show it, lol. You always have the most interesting lots. We need to create a site just for your lot downloads!
